Payroll Specialist

We are looking for a Payroll Specialist to join a collaborative onsite team in Hiram, Ohio in a contract-to-permanent role. This position supports end-to-end payroll activities for a workforce of approximately 200 employees, requiring strong accuracy, sound judgment, and confidence working in Banner. The ideal candidate brings hands-on payroll experience, a detail-focused approach, and the ability to partner closely with the Payroll Manager to keep pay cycles running smoothly.

Responsibilities:
• Administer biweekly and monthly payroll cycles for a workforce of about 200 employees, including staff, faculty, regular employees, and student workers.
• Examine timekeeping records, identify discrepancies, and confirm all hours are accurate before payroll is finalized.
• Carry payroll through each stage of the process, from gathering inputs and entering data to completing processing and generating final output files.
• Maintain employee payroll information in Banner by adding updates, correcting records, and ensuring data remains current.
• Compute overtime, supplemental earnings, and payroll deductions with a high degree of precision.
• Support payroll operations for a single-state, non-union employee population while adhering to established policies and deadlines.
• Work closely with the Payroll Manager to resolve payroll questions, verify information, and support consistent processing practices.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of payroll experience with responsibility for full-cycle processing.
• Practical experience using Banner for payroll or HR/payroll data management.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work accurately with timecards, earnings, and deductions.
• Experience processing recurring payroll schedules, including biweekly payroll.
• Solid data entry skills with a focus on maintaining accurate employee records.
• Ability to manage deadlines effectively in an onsite, team-oriented environment.

Compensation

$28.50-$33.00 Hourly
