Controller
We are looking for a Controller to support financial operations for a university environment in Chicopee, Massachusetts. This Long-term Contract position will oversee core accounting activities, strengthen reporting accuracy, and help maintain well-organized financial documentation. The ideal candidate brings strong experience in fund accounting, month-end and year-end processes, and the preparation of reliable financial statements in a nonprofit or higher education setting.
Responsibilities:
• Manage daily accounting functions and maintain accurate financial records across assigned funds and accounts.
• Prepare timely financial statements and supporting reports to provide clear insight into organizational performance.
• Lead month-end and year-end (6/30/26) close activities, ensuring reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting are completed accurately.
• Apply fund accounting principles to monitor restricted and unrestricted resources in alignment with nonprofit and university standards.
• Review, organize, and maintain financial documents, including scanning and compiling records for efficient retention and retrieval.
• Support audits and internal reviews by assembling documentation and responding to requests for financial information.
• Strengthen document control practices to improve accuracy, accessibility, and compliance within financial files.
• Partner with internal stakeholders to resolve accounting issues and ensure consistent reporting procedures.
Qualifications:
• Proven experience preparing financial statements in a complex accounting environment.• Strong background in fund accounting, preferably within a nonprofit or higher education organization.
• Demonstrated success managing month-end close and year-end closing processes.
• Knowledge of accounting controls, financial reconciliation, and reporting best practices.
• Experience handling document control, document scanning, and organized financial record management.
• High level of accuracy, sound judgment, and attention to detail in financial work.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a structured, deadline-driven setting.
Compensation
