Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our team in Dallas, Texas in a contract-to-permanent capacity. This position partners closely with the Controller and supports a blend of accounting and human resources responsibilities, making it ideal for someone who is comfortable working across financial operations and employee administration. The role offers the opportunity to contribute to day-to-day accounting accuracy, payroll activities, compliance efforts, and employee support within a collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:
• Manage customer and vendor setup within company systems while maintaining accurate supporting documentation.
• Oversee invoicing, collections, cash application activities, and the preparation of customer statements to support timely revenue recognition and account follow-up.
• Perform account, bank, and general ledger reconciliations, prepare journal entries, and assist with month-end reporting and close activities.
• Support tax and regulatory reporting by helping prepare state tax filings, year-end 1099 processing, and other required financial documentation.
• Administer accounts payable tasks such as coding invoices, processing purchase orders, coordinating weekly check runs, and handling wire payments.
• Maintain petty cash, monitor manual disbursements, and assist with contract setup, budget entry, and billing for reimbursable or intercompany charges.
• Coordinate onboarding documentation, maintain employee records, explain benefit offerings, and process benefit enrollments or terminations.
• Process semi-monthly payroll, track paid time off balances, distribute year-end wage statements, and assist with quarterly payroll-related filings.
• Serve as a point of contact for HR policies, employee concerns, insurance issues, unemployment matters, and required documentation related to employee relations activities.
• Review and update handbook and compliance-related practices to help ensure alignment with applicable employment regulations and company policies.

Qualifications:

• Experience in staff accounting with hands-on responsibility for general ledger activity, journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close support.
• Working knowledge of billing, collections, cash applications, accounts payable processing, and customer or vendor account maintenance.
• Familiarity with corporate tax, sales tax, and related financial reporting requirements.
• Experience processing full-cycle payroll and using HR payroll or HRIS payroll systems in a multi-functional role.
• Understanding of HR administration, including onboarding, benefits coordination, employee file maintenance, and policy support.
• Ability to prepare and review financial and payroll documentation with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities across accounting and human resources responsibilities.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to work closely with leadership, employees, vendors, and external agencies as needed.

Compensation

$31.66-$36.66 Hourly
