Staff Accountant
Responsibilities:
• Reconcile balance sheet and general ledger accounts to confirm completeness, accuracy, and timely resolution of outstanding items.
• Prepare, review, and record journal entries that support monthly accounting activity and financial close requirements.
• Organize financial documentation and assist with clearing historical discrepancies or backlogged accounting records.
• Maintain fixed asset records, update depreciation schedules, and perform related account tie-outs and reconciliations.
• Investigate variances or unusual account activity and work with the team to correct errors efficiently.
• Support process improvements by identifying opportunities to simplify workflows and strengthen accounting controls.
• Use Excel and accounting software to analyze transactions, track supporting details, and produce reliable schedules.
• Assist with tax-related accounting activities, including support for corporate tax and sales tax reporting needs as required.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of accounting experience with strong involvement in general ledger activities.• Demonstrated ability to complete account reconciliations and prepare accurate journal entries.
• Experience working in environments that require cleanup, catch-up work, or resolution of accounting backlogs.
• Familiarity with fixed asset accounting, including schedules, reconciliations, and related record maintenance, is preferred.
• Proficiency in Excel and comfort using accounting systems for transaction review and financial analysis.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to spot inconsistencies and follow issues through to resolution.
• Knowledge of corporate tax, sales tax, or corporate tax return support is a plus.
