Payroll Supervisor/Manager/Director
Responsibilities:
• Manage the complete bi-weekly payroll cycle for approximately 50 employees across multiple entities, ensuring all payments are processed accurately and on schedule.
• Review and maintain payroll inputs such as time records, compensation updates, tax withholdings, benefit deductions, retirement contributions, leave balances, and direct deposit changes.
• Administer payroll-related employee transactions including onboarding, separations, pay adjustments, tax updates, and other employee record changes.
• Provide governance and oversight for payroll activities handled at the branch level, ensuring consistency, accuracy, and adherence to established standards.
• Monitor compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations and address payroll practices to reduce risk and maintain proper controls.
• Coordinate year-end payroll activities, including account reconciliations, W-2 preparation, tax reporting, and setup for the new payroll year.
• Reconcile benefit deductions and work with external vendors to resolve discrepancies and support accurate remittance processing.
• Support administration of retirement programs, including 401(k) and deferred compensation plans, with attention to deductions, reporting, and compliance requirements.
• Prepare payroll reports, perform account reconciliations, and contribute to payroll-related projects and process improvements as business needs evolve.
• Handle off-cycle payroll runs, manual payments, and occasional travel requirements as needed to support deadlines and operational priorities.
Qualifications:
• Extensive experience managing full-cycle payroll in a multi-state environment with responsibility for accuracy, compliance, and end-to-end ownership.• Strong working knowledge of payroll laws and regulations at the federal, state, and local levels.
• Hands-on experience with ADP Workforce Now and the ability to navigate payroll systems effectively.
• Background in payroll reporting, account reconciliation, and year-end payroll processing, including tax filings and W-2 preparation.
• Experience supporting benefit deduction reconciliations and collaborating with third-party vendors.
• Knowledge of 401(k) plan administration is strongly preferred, and exposure to deferred compensation programs is highly valued.
• Ten or more years of relevant payroll experience may be considered in place of a degree, provided the candidate meets the core functional requirements.
• Detail-oriented payroll certification is preferred.
