Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer – Level 4 to join our team in Redondo Beach, CA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
You will have the opportunity to design, develop, and execute test procedures and automated test scripts using spacecraft commands, telemetry, and electrical ground support equipment. The ideal candidate has system level test experience working with spacecraft flight hardware and good computer skills. Daily responsibilities will require I&T test preparation leading to direct contact with satellite and space flight hardware.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
Job responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
EGSE, test equipment, harness, and rack design. Support EGSE and flight hardware test/troubleshooting efforts.
Preparation/planning for short- and long-term test bed integration activities
Develop I&T test procedures, specifications, and test limits. Execute I&T testing, monitor tests per specification, troubleshoot, and document all test activities
Understands both electrical circuits and software within the flight hardware and EGSE
Fully grasp escalation plan when test errors are encountered and understands when to proceed per NG/program process. Participates in anomaly resolution process and offers technical solutions
Coordinates with ITEE team leads, electrical test conductors/technicians, and I&T managers to complete and status tasking. May participate, prepare, and present material in program review boards (ERBs, TRRs, FRBs, etc.).

This position is contingent upon the candidate obtaining final clearances and program access(es) within a reasonable period of time as determined by the company.
Basic Qualifications:
Approved STEM Bachelor’s degree with 8 years of professional/related experience – OR – Approved STEM Master’s degree with 6 years of professional/related experience – OR – Approved STEM PhD with 4 years of professional/related experience.
Requires an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope
Travel and support different shifts when required
Demonstrated strong background in EGSE, test equipment, harness, and rack design.
Preferred Qualifications:
Demonstrate ability to learn and integrate new tools/applications
Experience with hardware or software testing and test scripting
Direct related experience in system-level or test bed Integration and Test
Experience in Electronics troubleshooting and nonconformance documentation and resolution workflow
Programming or debugging experience with any of the following languages: STOL/JAS, Python
Programming or debugging experience with any of the following tools: Manufacturo, Odoo, InControl, Jira/Confluence, Git/Bitbucket
Experience in Aerospace or Defense industry (development or test)
Active U.S. Government DoD Top Secret security clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $142,200.00 - $213,400.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
