Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems is seeking a Structural Engineer (Level 2) / Principal Structural Engineer (Level 3). This position will be located on-site in Melbourne, FL. This position is for the 1st shift with a 9/80 work schedule.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • We are looking for an Engineer who can conduct stress analyses on mechanical systems such as mechanically and hydraulicly driven doors as well as their associated locking mechanisms.  

  • The candidate should be well versed in various methods of static analysis including, section checks, lug checks, joint strength and column stability.  

  • They should also have a strong understanding of durability analysis and internal load development of mechanisms including both Freebody and FEM methods. 

Basic Qualifications Structural Engineer (Level 2):

  • Basic qualifications for a Structural Analysis Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 2 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with no years of experience.

  • Experience in structural analysis methods and documentation, including classical hand calculation and large Finite Element Model manipulation.

  • Experience in structural analysis of mechanical systems. 

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Special Program Access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).  Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

  • Basic qualifications for a Principal Structural Analysis Engineer include a Bachelor's in Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience, a Master's Degree in STEM with 3 years of relevant experience, or a PhD Degree with no experience.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis methods and documentation, including classical hand calculation and large Finite Element Model manipulation.

  • Proficiency in structural analysis of mechanical systems.

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period, as determined by the company to meet its business needs (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite).  Final approved U.S. Government security clearance (U.S. citizenship is a pre-requisite) as well as Program Special Access may be required to start.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelors, Masters or PhD Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with mechanism structural analysis.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Unigraphics NX, CATIA V5 and/or similar CAD packages.

  • Demonstrated proficiency with PATRAN, FEMAP, NASTRAN, StressCheck, Abaqus CAE and/or similar Analysis packages.

  • Experience working Special Access Programs

  • Top Secret US Government Security Clearance

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,300.00 - $118,900.00

Secondary Level Salary Range: $98,400.00 - $147,600.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
