Staff Accountant

We are looking for a Staff Accountant to provide hands-on accounting support for construction-focused client accounts. This Long-term Contract position is well suited for an accounting specialist who is comfortable managing core financial tasks independently and maintaining accurate records with limited oversight. The role centers on day-to-day general accounting activities, month-end support, and dependable financial reporting within a fast-paced client service environment.

Responsibilities:

• Oversee day-to-day accounting activity for a portfolio of construction-related client engagements, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and consistently.

• Prepare and enter journal entries to support routine accounting operations and period-end adjustments.

• Reconcile general ledger and balance sheet accounts, investigating discrepancies and resolving issues in a timely manner.

• Contribute to the month-end close process by organizing financial data, verifying account activity, and meeting reporting deadlines.

• Maintain complete and accurate financial records that support reliable general ledger integrity and audit readiness.

• Assist with preparing financial statements, summaries, and other reporting deliverables as requested.

• Monitor accounting workflows to ensure deadlines are met and work is completed with a high degree of accuracy.

• Manage priorities independently and take ownership of assigned accounting responsibilities with minimal day-to-day direction.

The hourly pay range for this position is $33.65 to $38.46/hour. Benefits available to contract/temporary professionals, include medical, vision, dental, and life and disability insurance. Qualifications:

• At least 3 years of experience in a Staff Accountant or similar accounting role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Practical knowledge of journal entries, general ledger accounting, account reconciliations, and month-end close procedures.
• Experience using Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, account support, and data organization.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accurate records across multiple accounts.
• Ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and manage responsibilities proactively.
• Construction industry accounting experience is strongly preferred.
• Background focused on core accounting functions; payroll and tax experience is not required.

Compensation

$30.45-$35.26 Hourly
