HR Generalist (Temporary Leave Coverage) – Non-Profit Organization | New Haven, CT

A non-profit organization in New Haven, CT is seeking an experienced and adaptable HR Generalist to provide coverage during a temporary leave. This role is ideal for a human resources professional who can step in quickly, support day-to-day HR operations, and help maintain a positive and compliant workplace in a mission-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support daily human resources operations, including employee relations, onboarding, and HR administration
• Assist with benefits administration, new hire paperwork, and employee record maintenance
• Help coordinate recruitment activities, interview scheduling, and candidate communication
• Provide guidance on HR policies, procedures, and best practices
• Maintain HRIS records and ensure data accuracy and confidentiality
• Support compliance with employment laws, internal policies, and organizational procedures
• Assist with performance management, training coordination, and employee engagement initiatives
• Partner with leadership and staff to address HR-related questions and issues
• Provide additional support during the leave period to ensure continuity of HR services

Qualifications:

Qualifications:

• Previous experience in an HR Generalist or broad human resources role preferred
• Strong knowledge of HR processes, employee relations, onboarding, and benefits administration
• Experience with HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite
• Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to handle confidential information with professionalism and discretion
• Experience in a nonprofit or mission-driven environment is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field preferred
