Accounting Specialist
We are looking for an Accounting Specialist to provide part-time support for core accounting operations in Houston, Texas. This Long-term Contract opportunity offers 25 hours per week in a detail-focused managed services environment, with remote work available on Mondays and Fridays. The position focuses on maintaining accurate financial records, supporting billing and payment workflows, and helping keep day-to-day accounting activities running smoothly.
Responsibilities:
• Manage a steady volume of vendor invoices and complete accounts payable processing with accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepare client invoices, oversee recurring billing activities, and help ensure charges are issued correctly.
• Track outstanding receivables and follow up with customers to support timely payment collection.
• Respond to customer and vendor questions related to invoices, payment status, and account discrepancies in a courteous and accurate manner.
• Maintain organized financial records through precise data entry and consistent documentation practices.
• Reconcile bank activity, customer balances, vendor statements, and general ledger accounts to confirm financial accuracy.
• Investigate variances and resolve accounting issues promptly to minimize outstanding discrepancies.
• Build and update reporting in Microsoft Excel, including the use of Pivot Tables and Macros for analysis and tracking.
• Assist with month-end close tasks, reporting needs, and additional accounting projects as priorities arise.
• Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central to record transactions and maintain reliable accounting data.
Qualifications:
• At least 3 years of accounting support experience covering accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and reconciliations.
• Recent hands-on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central is required.
• Strong Microsoft Excel capabilities, including Pivot Tables and Macros.
• Practical experience with invoicing, collections, and customer account follow-up.
• High level of accuracy in data entry with strong attention to detail.
• Effective communication skills and a detail-oriented approach to customer and vendor interactions.
• Ability to work independently, manage competing deadlines, and perform well in a fast-paced setting.
Compensation
