HR Specialist
We are looking for an HR Specialist to join a non-profit organization in Charlotte, North Carolina in a contract position with the potential for a permanent role. This role supports a growing HR function with a blend of talent acquisition, onboarding, record administration, and compliance-focused coordination in a fast-paced, onsite environment. The ideal candidate brings strong judgment, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive employee information while partnering closely with HR leadership.
Responsibilities:
• Drive recruiting activities by identifying talent through online sourcing channels and moving candidates through the early stages of the employment process.
• Conduct initial applicant reviews, coordinate interview logistics, and help maintain an efficient and positive candidate experience.
• Oversee onboarding tasks for new employees, ensuring employment forms and supporting documentation are completed accurately and on time.
• Maintain organized personnel files and HR records while safeguarding confidential employee information.
• Support compliance efforts by gathering documentation, tracking requirements, and assisting with audit readiness activities, including healthcare-related standards.
• Use HR systems and digital documentation tools such as Paychex and Adobe Sign to manage onboarding workflows and employee records.
• Assist with training coordination and provide administrative support for orientation and onboarding programs.
• Partner with the HR Manager on day-to-day HR operations, reporting needs, research requests, and special projects across a workforce of approximately 168 employees.
Qualifications:
• Prior experience in an HR Specialist, HR Generalist, or similar human resources role.
• Demonstrated background in recruiting, including candidate sourcing, applicant screening, and interview coordination.
• Proficiency with HRIS platforms; experience with Paychex is strongly preferred.
• Strong organizational skills and careful attention to detail when handling employee documentation.
• Ability to manage confidential records with discretion and professionalism.
• Effective written and verbal communication skills, along with solid research and documentation abilities.
• Comfortable balancing multiple priorities in a busy, deadline-driven setting.
• Experience in healthcare, HIPAA-regulated, or compliance-sensitive environments is preferred.
Compensation
