Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support core accounting operations for a growing organization in Texas. This contract opportunity with permanent potential is ideal for someone who enjoys working across day-to-day financial activities while helping maintain accurate records and timely reporting. The person in this role will contribute to a collaborative accounting team by managing essential ledger activity, supporting payables, and ensuring financial transactions are recorded with precision.

Responsibilities:
• Prepare and post journal entries to maintain accurate financial records and support monthly accounting activity.
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate discrepancies to ensure balances are complete and correct.
• Process accounts payable transactions, verify supporting documentation, and help maintain timely vendor payments.
• Assist with month-end close tasks, including reviewing account activity and organizing financial data for reporting.
• Monitor daily accounting transactions and ensure entries are recorded in accordance with internal procedures.
• Support audits and internal reviews by gathering documentation and responding to requests from finance leadership.
• Work with cross-functional teams to resolve invoice, coding, and account-related issues in a timely manner.

Qualifications:

• Experience performing journal entries in an accounting environment that requires strong attention to detail.
• Working knowledge of general ledger processes and account reconciliation practices.
• Background in accounts payable, including invoice review and payment support.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain accuracy in financial records.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet applications used for financial tracking.
• Ability to manage deadlines and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced setting.
• Clear communication skills and a collaborative approach to working with internal teams.

Compensation

$29.69-$34.38 Hourly
