Sr. Buyer
We are looking for an experienced Sr. Buyer to join a wholesale distribution organization in Spartanburg, South Carolina on a contract basis with the potential for a permanent role. This role is ideal for a proactive procurement specialist who can manage supplier relationships, support project-driven purchasing needs, and uncover value through strategic sourcing. The position will work closely with cross-functional teams to keep materials flowing, control costs, and address supply challenges in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
• Create and carry out purchasing plans for industrial equipment and related materials to meet operational and project demands.
• Negotiate supplier agreements, unit costs, lead times, and service terms to secure favorable business outcomes.
• Evaluate market conditions and vendor results to identify opportunities for savings, improved service, and reduced risk.
• Partner with engineering, operations, and logistics teams to ensure purchased items align with technical requirements and delivery schedules.
• Maintain organized procurement documentation and uphold adherence to internal purchasing standards and company policies.
• Address supplier and supply chain disruptions by troubleshooting delays, shortages, and product quality issues.
• Manage vendor qualification activities, including identifying new suppliers and supporting onboarding for upcoming projects.
• Contribute to procurement budgeting and forecasting efforts by tracking spend and anticipating material needs.
• Prepare weekly project purchasing updates by reviewing bills of materials, presenting new sourcing options, and outlining current challenges.
• Use Excel extensively to analyze purchasing data, monitor activity, and support decision-making outside of an ERP-driven workflow.
Qualifications:
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in buying, purchasing, or procurement roles.• Background in sourcing industrial equipment, materials, or related products within a distribution or similar environment.
• Demonstrated ability to negotiate pricing, contracts, and delivery terms with suppliers.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently and take initiative.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data analysis, tracking, and reporting.
• Experience coordinating with cross-functional teams to support project-based purchasing needs.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy in records and procurement activities.
Compensation
