Accounts Payable Clerk

We are looking for an Accounts Payable Clerk to support a non-profit organization in Charleston, South Carolina. This Contract position is ideal for someone with recent hands-on experience in accounts payable who can manage invoice activity with accuracy and consistency. The right candidate will contribute to timely payment processing, maintain organized financial records, and help keep daily payable operations running smoothly.

Responsibilities:
• Review incoming invoices for completeness, accuracy, and proper approval before processing
• Assign correct accounting codes to invoices and enter payment details into the system with close attention to detail
• Prepare and assist with routine check runs to ensure vendors are paid on schedule
• Maintain organized accounts payable records and supporting documentation for tracking and audit purposes
• Communicate with internal staff and vendors to resolve invoice discrepancies, missing information, or payment questions
• Monitor outstanding payables and help ensure transactions are recorded in a timely manner
• Support day-to-day accounts payable activities while following established financial procedures and controls

Qualifications:

• Recent experience working in accounts payable is required
• Working knowledge of invoice processing and invoice coding
• Familiarity with preparing or supporting check runs
• Basic understanding of accounts payable procedures and financial recordkeeping
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation
• Ability to manage recurring tasks effectively and meet processing deadlines

Compensation

$21.85-$25.30 Hourly
