Personal Injury Attorney
Responsibilities:
• Oversee personal injury cases from initial evaluation through settlement, verdict, or other resolution while managing deadlines and next steps independently.
• Review liability issues, medical documentation, treatment histories, and expert materials to assess damages and strengthen case strategy.
• Build and carry out litigation plans designed to advance each matter efficiently and improve recovery potential for clients.
• Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and other legal filings, and present arguments in court when required.
• Take and defend depositions involving clients, witnesses, medical providers, and retained experts as part of case development.
• Attend conferences, hearings, and other court appearances on a regular basis, representing clients with strong advocacy.
• Negotiate settlements and participate in mediation or arbitration proceedings to pursue favorable resolutions.
• Maintain consistent communication with clients, advising them on case progress, expectations, and legal options throughout the matter.
• Partner with firm leadership on significant or complex files and provide guidance to support staff involved in case execution.
• Support trial preparation and assist during trial proceedings, while ensuring case records remain current and accurate within the case management system.
Qualifications:
• Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.• Active admission to the New York State Bar in good standing.
• At least 5 years of experience handling personal injury litigation with direct responsibility for case management.
• Demonstrated ability to manage plaintiff-side injury matters independently, including client interaction and litigation deadlines.
• Strong background in motion practice, discovery, depositions, and courtroom appearances.
• Experience analyzing damages, reviewing medical records, and negotiating settlements effectively.
• Excellent written, verbal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Trial experience or meaningful trial exposure is preferred; bilingual ability, including Spanish, is a plus.
Compensation
