Staff Accountant

We are looking for a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to support daily accounting activities in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. This onsite opportunity is a Long-term Contract position and is well suited for someone who enjoys maintaining accurate financial records and contributing to efficient back-office operations. The role offers a mix of transactional accounting work and month-end support, with opportunities to collaborate closely with the broader accounting team.

Responsibilities:
• Manage incoming invoices and outgoing payments while maintaining accurate accounts payable records.
• Record customer payments, track outstanding balances, and support accounts receivable activities to promote timely collections.
• Prepare and distribute billing documents with a high level of accuracy and consistency.
• Process and reconcile deposits to ensure cash activity is properly reflected in the accounting records.
• Assist with month-end close tasks, including account reconciliations and preparation of supporting documentation.
• Post journal entries and help maintain the accuracy of the general ledger.
• Collaborate with team members on routine accounting operations and provide support on additional assigned tasks as needed.
• Review financial transactions for completeness and timeliness to help maintain dependable accounting data.

Qualifications:

• At least 2 years of accounting experience in a staff accountant or similar role.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, and deposit processing.
• Working knowledge of journal entries, general ledger activity, and month-end close support.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to organize and manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Ability to work successfully in a team-oriented, onsite environment.
• Clear communication skills and a dependable approach to handling financial information.

Compensation

$26.60-$30.80 Hourly
