Sr. Accountant

We are looking for an experienced Sr. Accountant to join a team in San Jose, California on a Contract basis. This role is ideal for a detail-focused accounting specialist who brings strong expertise in general ledger management, cost accounting, fixed assets, and revenue recognition. The position will play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, supporting close activities, and ensuring the integrity of day-to-day accounting operations.

Responsibilities:
• Lead monthly and period-end close activities by preparing entries, reviewing balances, and helping ensure timely financial reporting.
• Maintain the general ledger by recording, analyzing, and correcting transactions to support accurate financial statements.
• Manage cost accounting processes, including tracking expenses and evaluating cost allocations across operations.
• Oversee fixed asset accounting, including capitalization, depreciation, disposals, and reconciliation of related schedules.
• Handle revenue accounting activities by applying appropriate recognition practices and validating supporting documentation.
• Prepare and post journal entries with supporting analysis and clear audit trails.
• Perform account reconciliations and investigate variances to resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Complete bank reconciliations and coordinate follow-up on outstanding items as needed.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
• Demonstrated experience in a senior-level accounting role with broad general ledger responsibility.
• Strong working knowledge of month-end close procedures, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Hands-on experience with cost accounting, fixed asset accounting, and revenue accounting.
• Ability to identify inconsistencies in financial data and resolve issues with accuracy and efficiency.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and spreadsheet tools used for financial analysis and reporting.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Compensation

$42.75-$49.50 Hourly
