Public Senior Accountant

Seattle, WA 98101, US Temporary
Compensation: $50 to $60 Hourly

We are looking for an experienced Senior Accountant to support complex accounting operations and financial oversight for a contract opportunity. This position will play a key role in managing core accounting activities, analyzing financial data, and helping ensure accurate reporting across multiple functions. The ideal candidate brings strong audit experience, deep knowledge of general ledger processes, and the ability to handle detailed incentive-related accounting with accuracy and sound judgment.


Responsibilities:

• Manage incentive compensation accounting activities, including calculating and validating a high volume of annual incentive amounts with accuracy and consistency.

• Lead departmental audit support efforts by preparing documentation, reviewing financial records, and addressing audit-related questions and findings.

• Prepare and post journal entries while maintaining the integrity of general ledger activity across assigned accounts.

• Perform detailed account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, to identify discrepancies and resolve variances in a timely manner.

• Support month-end close by coordinating schedules, reviewing balances, and ensuring financial results are recorded completely and accurately.

• Oversee accounting processes related to accounts receivable, accounts payable, and revenue reconciliation as needed.

• Interpret accounting guidance, reporting standards, and compliance requirements to help maintain accurate financial reporting practices.

• Evaluate financial data and operational issues to identify risks, recommend solutions, and improve accounting accuracy and control.

• Provide direction or guidance to entry-level accounting staff or clerical team members when needed on assigned workflows and priorities.


Qualifications:

• 7+ years of accounting experience, including work at a senior accountant level.

• Strong background in month-end close, general ledger management, and journal entry preparation.

• Proven experience performing account reconciliations and bank reconciliations in a complex accounting environment.

• Hands-on experience supporting financial audits and assessing audit or compliance-related risk.

• Knowledge of incentive compensation, annual incentive calculations, or performance-based compensation accounting.

• Proficiency with Sage 100 and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

• Ability to interpret accounting rules and reporting requirements and apply them accurately to day-to-day work.

$50.00-$60.00 Hourly
