Payroll Clerk
Responsibilities:
• Process weekly payroll for 200 to 300 employees assigned across multiple construction job sites, ensuring accuracy and timely completion.
• Maintain and update payroll records by entering new employees, employee separations, pay rate revisions, deductions, garnishments, and other payroll changes.
• Review timekeeping details and partner with field teams, Human Resources, project leaders, and corporate payroll staff to investigate and resolve pay discrepancies.
• Prepare certified payroll submissions, union reports, fringe benefit documentation, and related payment support in accordance with job and contractual requirements.
• Verify payroll activity for compliance with union terms, company guidelines, and applicable reporting standards.
• Reconcile payroll data and supporting records for audits, internal reviews, and month-end or project-related reporting needs.
• Respond to employee questions regarding pay, deductions, and payroll records in a timely and helpful manner.
• Provide administrative assistance through document management, shipping coordination, office supply oversight, and front-desk backup when needed.
Qualifications:
• 2+ years of payroll experience, preferably in construction or a related project-based environment.• Practical experience processing full-cycle payroll for a workforce of 101 to 500 employees.
• Working knowledge of payroll adjustments, garnishments, employee record updates, and weekly payroll cycles.
• Familiarity with certified payroll reporting, union payroll requirements, and fringe benefit documentation.
• Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage confidential information accurately and professionally.
• Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with field personnel, HR, payroll, and project management teams.
• Proficiency with payroll recordkeeping, reconciliation tasks, and general administrative support responsibilities.
