Sr. Accountant

Franksville, WI 53126, US Contract

We are looking for a Senior Accountant to join a paper and packaging organization in Franksville, Wisconsin in a contract capacity with the potential to become permanent. This role is suited for an accounting specialist who thrives in a hands-on setting and can manage core general ledger activities while supporting a multi-entity environment. The position will play a key part in maintaining accurate financial records, strengthening close processes, and collaborating across accounting operations in a fast-moving team.

Responsibilities:
• Drive monthly close activities by preparing journal entries, completing reconciliations, and investigating fluctuations in financial results.
• Maintain balance sheet accuracy through detailed review of cash, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and debt-related accounts, including applicable interest postings.
• Support accounting across multiple legal entities by ensuring transactions are recorded correctly and reflected in the appropriate books.
• Examine intercompany activity for proper classification and resolve coding issues to keep related balances aligned.
• Assist with sales tax administration in Vertex by reviewing data for completeness and accuracy before final approval.
• Provide support to accounts payable operations by reviewing automated transactions, verifying matching controls, and researching exceptions.
• Oversee the integrity of accounting system integrations and help address issues that could affect general ledger reporting.
• Work closely with the Assistant Controller and accounting team to improve workflows, strengthen controls, and maintain reliable financial information.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• At least 3 years of experience in general ledger accounting, with senior-level exposure preferred.
• Demonstrated success managing month-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations.
• Experience reconciling balance sheet accounts such as bank accounts, prepaids, fixed assets, and debt balances.
• Familiarity with multi-entity accounting structures and intercompany transaction review.
• Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and sales tax support responsibilities.
• Strong Excel capabilities and experience using accounting systems to support accurate financial reporting.
• High attention to detail with the ability to balance multiple priorities in a lean, fast-paced environment.
