Job Description:
Responsible for writing and editing articles for publication in military publications, gathering from approved sources briefs for the bulletin, taking pictures at various Reserve Component-related or sponsored activities and ceremonies. Designing and laying out the Citizen Soldier Bulletin. Must be able to fluently read, write, speak and understand English and be familiar with the Associated Press Stylebook. Maintain a photo database archiving all photos in the bulletin. Responsible for producing video products, from concept to completion, to include script-writing, videotaping, editing, broadcast, and distribution of products. Responsible for taping various special events, ceremonies, information update briefings and training, and document the units activities for historical purposes. Responsible for producing, printing and distributing a monthly black-and-white bulletin for mobilizing and demobilizing Reserve Component soldiers. Safety Manager Reports directly to Project Manager / Deputy Project Manager. Plans, implements, and coordinates program to reduce or eliminate occupational injuries, illnesses, deaths and financial losses. Identifies and appraises conditions which could produce accidents and financial losses. Evaluates potential extent of injuries resulting from accidents. Conducts or directs research studies to identify hazards and evaluate loss producing potential of given system, operation or process. Develops accident-prevention and loss-control system and programs for incorporation into operational policies of organization. Disseminates information to department heads and others regarding toxic substances, hazards, carcinogens, and other safety information. Assists department heads and administrators in enforcing safety regulations and codes. Measures and evaluates effectiveness of safety program, using established goals. Conducts building and grounds surveys on periodic and regular basis to detect code violations, hazards, and incorrect work practices and procedures. Maintains administrative control of records related to safety and health programs. Assists personnel department in administering worker compensation program.
Requirements:
One year experience in professional environment or equivalent experience through education. Operate personal computer, proficient with Microsoft Office and Adobe (INDesign and Photoshop) software, Digital video and SLR camera, Non-linear editing software, copy and fax machines. Skills in written and oral communication in order to compose and/or present information in required format. Extensive practical knowledge of Occupational Safety and Health, logistics functions, programs, regulations and guide lines based on hazardous materials, hazardous communication, Walking and working surfaces. Safety Manager must have knowledge of various classes of materials including those classified as hazardous in order to ensure proper packaging, marking, labeling, and placarding of materials with responsibility for complete and accurate shipping documentation. Ability to distinguish colors to visually observe hazardous material placards which are printed in different colors. Knowledge of safety and security regulations, methods and procedures in order to maintain and comply with standards and levels of safety and security which in turn affects the loading of personnel and equipment. Skills in written and oral communication in order to compose and present information in required format. Ability to operate Material Handling Equipment (MHE) for airfield operations. Ability to operate a motor vehicle in order to report to designated movement operation areas from administrative office work-site Must be able to obtain and maintain a National Agency Check (NAC).
