Locatedin Greater Boston, MassBay is a comprehensive, open-access community college,offering associate degrees and certificate programs on three campuses inWellesley Hills, Framingham, and Ashland, Massachusetts.



Position Summary:

The ideal candidate will join a vibrant educational communityand have a desire and ability to serve a population of students with variousneeds and backgrounds. This is apart-time, non-unit position with no benefits.

The Head Coach for the MassBay Community College Unified Sports program isresponsible for developing and leading an inclusive athletic program thatbrings together students with and without intellectual disabilities asteammates. The coach will foster an environment of respect, teamwork,sportsmanship, and belonging while preparing student-athletes for participationin Special Olympics Unified Sports competition. Working under the supervisionof the Assistant Dean of Athletics, the Head Coach will oversee all aspects ofthe Unified Sports program, including recruitment, practices, competitions,student development, and compliance with MassBay Community College, NJCAA, andSpecial Olympics Massachusetts guidelines.

There are two positions available.

Required Qualifications:

  • Recruit and retain student-athletes and Unified Partners from across the MassBay community;

  • Develop and implement practice plans that promote skill development, teamwork, inclusion, and meaningful participation for all team members;

  • Organize and supervise all team practices, competitions, and related activities;

  • Foster a positive, welcoming, and inclusive team culture that reflects the mission and values of MassBay Community College;

  • Ensure compliance with all Special Olympics Massachusetts policies, eligibility requirements, and competition guidelines;

  • Complete all required coach certifications, background checks, and training as required by MassBay and Special Olympics Massachusetts;

  • Coordinate schedules, travel, uniforms, equipment, and game-day operations with the Athletics Department;

  • Communicate effectively with student-athletes, families, faculty, staff, and community partners;

  • Collaborate with the Accessibility Resources Center, Student Development, and other campus departments to promote participation and inclusive programming;

  • Support recruitment events, orientation programs, and campus activities to increase awareness of Unified Sports;

  • Monitor student-athlete academic progress and encourage academic success and personal growth;

  • Maintain accurate team records, eligibility documentation, and required reports;

  • Represent MassBay Community College in a professional manner at all practices, competitions, meetings, and community events;

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of Athletics.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree;

  • Previous coaching, teaching, or educational leadership experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Sensitivity and commitment to the goals of Affirmative Action;

  • Experience working in a community college or similar environment;

  • Demonstrated commitment to working with students in need;

  • Experience coaching individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities;

  • Knowledge of Special Olympics Unified Sports philosophy and competition;

  • Collegiate coaching or playing experience.

Salary Range: $10,000/season
