About the Montford Unit
The John Montford Unit is an accredited regional medical and mental health facility within the TTUHSC Managed Care system. The facility provides a comprehensive range of medical, psychiatric, and ancillary healthcare services to patients across the state.

Available Practice Areas:
  • Ward: The Montford RMF Ward includes 50 skilled nursing beds providing acute medical-surgical care, including six respiratory isolation rooms.
  • Long-Term Care (LTC): The LTC unit includes 44 beds dedicated to caring for chronically ill patients, as well as hospice and palliative care services.
Current Openings

Rotating 12-Hour Shifts (4 on/ 4 off)
Enjoy a predictable rotating schedule that provides four consecutive workdays followed by four consecutive days off, offering excellent work-life balance.
  • Ward | Rotating, 5:30 AM-6:00 PM
  • LTC | Rotating, 5:30 AM-6:00 PM
Competitive Pay - Earn a strong salary plus shift differential:
  • Night Differential: +$3/hr on weekday nights
  • Weekend Differential: +$3/hr on weekend days
  • Weekend Night Differential: +$6/hr on weekend nights

RMF- LTC

Major/Essential Functions

  • Patient Care: Administer medications, perform assessments, and monitors patients' health conditions to ensure adherence to care plans.
  • Clinical Observation: Identify and report changes in patient conditions, contributing to problem identification and the development of patient care goals.
  • Medical Procedures Support: Prepare and operate essential medical equipment for procedures, examinations, and treatments.
  • Documentation: Accurately record patient assessments, interventions, and medication administration in the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
  • Collaboration: Work closely with healthcare providers and correctional staff to ensure coordinated care in a secure environment.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all healthcare policies, safety standards, and regulations, including proper medication storage and direct observation protocols.
  • Emergency Response: Assist in medical emergencies, triaging patients, and provide immediate care when necessary.


Occasional Duties

Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Required Qualifications

  • Current Vocational Nurse License in the State of Texas, or ability to transfer license to Texas, or scheduled to complete a program of vocational nursing within 120 days of applying for a position .
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Graduated from an approved accredited nursing program. New graduates must pass the National Council Licensure Examination for Practical Nurses (NCLEX- PN) on the first attempt.
  • No experience required.
