POSITION SUMMARY:
The Cost Analyst supports BrassCraft’s Plant Operations and Finance teams by providing cost accounting, financial analysis, and operational reporting support to help achieve business objectives. This role partners cross-functionally to support budgeting, standard costing, forecasting, variance analysis, and month-end close activities. The position plays a key role in maintaining accurate product costs, supporting the annual cost roll process, and providing financial insights that support informed decision-making.
This is a hybrid position based out of Novi, MI.
PRINCIPAL FUNCTIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists with all areas of the operations budgeting process, including creating and populating budget templates and reports.
Collaborates cross-functionally to support the annual standard cost calculation process, including gathering and validating material, labor, and overhead cost inputs.
Supports and coordinates the execution of the annual cost roll process to ensure standards are accurately calculated, maintained, and uploaded within company systems.
Evaluates and recommends changes in the company’s cost structure, as appropriate.
Monitors, researches, and provides recommendations related to manufacturing variances, purchase price variances (PPV), and other cost drivers
Partners with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, and Procurement to gather cost inputs and evaluate the financial impact of product, process, and supplier changes.
Assists with analysis and review of manufacturing operations, including production output, productivity, manufacturing variances, inventory impacts, and other cost-related metrics.
Compiles and analyzes financial reports to identify trends, variances, and inventory-related impacts, and cost improvement opportunities.
Analyzes key financial and operational metrics to identify risks, trends, and opportunities to support cost visibility and informed decision-making across Operations and Finance.
Works with Supply Chain to ensure proper accounting and reporting of E&O and reserves.
Assists with implementation, monitoring, performance, and testing of internal controls.
Works with the Operations Controller to prepare and research operations-related journal entries for month-end close.
Support ad-hoc projects and analyses as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
3 years of experience in cost accounting
Prior experience with close processes
Advanced Excel skills
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
CPA or MBA
Prior experience in a manufacturing environment

Ability to manage multiple projects of differing scale, complexity, and duration
Desire and willingness to learn new tools, techniques, concepts, and methodologies
Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present financial concepts to non‑finance partners
Solid understanding of manufacturing cost accounting principles, including standard costing, labor and overhead analysis, material usage variances, and cost roll‑ups
