Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems sector is hiring a Principal or Sr. Principal Aircraft Loads Engineer to join our Vehicle Engineering team of qualified, diverse individuals in Melbourne, Florida or El Segundo, CA.
Responsibilities:
The team member will be expected to perform analysis for flight loads.
Successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter and will be proactive, forward-thinking, able to work with a small team to rapid resolution of complex technical loads problems and can convey complex technical problems diplomatically and professionally to both other engineering disciplines and leadership.
The candidate will be able to work well in a team environment and form connections across the myriad of disciplines: including, but not limited to, flight controls, mass properties, stress, and mechanism teams.
The ideal candidate would have experience working in the advanced development world and would understand the depth of analysis this environment requires.
This position can be filled at the Principal (Level 3) engineer or Sr. Principal (Level 4) engineer level.
Basic Qualifications:
Principal Engineer: Bachelor of Science (BS) in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 5 years of relevant experience; OR Masters of Science (MS) in a STEM discipline and 3 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 1 year of relevant experience
Sr. Principal Engineer: BS in a STEM discipline and 8 years of relevant experience; OR MS in a STEM discipline and 6 years of relevant experience; OR PhD in a STEM discipline and 4 years of relevant experience
Experience with aircraft loads (flight/aero loads, ground loads)
Must have an active US Government Secret or higher clearance (with a background investigation completed within the last 6 years or currently enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance prior to the commencement of employment
Preferred Qualifications:
Degree in Mechanical, Aerospace, or Structural Engineering with an emphasis on aircraft loads (flight loads, ground loads)
Advanced knowledge of detailed ground and flight loads and load mitigation
Experience with analysis of flight / ground loads to include steady state maneuvers, abrupt maneuvers, gust response, control surface hinge moments, and developing loads for miscellaneous conditions such as canopy, door, pressurization, engine mount, external store, tie-down/mooring, and aerial refueling.
Experience in the use of industry standard loads and dynamics analysis software such as NASTRAN, PATRAN, FEMAP, ZONAIR, ZAERO, ZEUS
Experience with MATLAB and CAD Tools (NX)
