Inventory Management Specialist II

Responsibilities:
The Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) mission and requirements include, but are not limited to, warehousing and inventory management operations support by performing the following tasks daily:
- Assemble Authorized Medical/Dental Allowance Lists (AMAL/ADAL) and medical kits using government provided standard configurations and quantities.
- Identify medical materiel by NSN, Catalog Numbers, Reference Numbers, Serial Numbers, and Part Numbers.
- Ensure all medical materiel has Manufacturing Dates, Lot Numbers, and Expirations Dates.
- Acquire supply items from Receiving Section for storage in Materiel Distribution Center (MDC) / Materiel Control Center (MCC).
- Designate, use and re-organize locations appropriately based on size, quantity, and unit of issue of stored materiel utilizing the in-house Alpha-9 location.
- Pull, label, organize and stage all materiel issued for the AMAL, ADAL and/or supplemental and conduct proper turn-over by counting and verifying items with the requesting personnel.
- Pull, label, organize, stage, and return excess and/or obsolete material for distribution and reutilization.
- Using DMLSS, issue and transfer required items/NSNs to the appropriate AMAL, ADAL, or supplemental replenishment requests.
- Maintain AMAL content in accordance with DMLSS as they are modernized, content is changed, or NSNs are introduced or changed.
- Conduct Pre, Joint, and Post Limited Technical Inspections, record data in DMLSS, and produce shortfall list for items that are needed.
- Spot check locations and materiel daily, ensuring it is correctly in place, neatly organized, properly aligned, and no two or more items are mixed.
- Accomplish Monthly Cyclic Inventory to support the end of Fiscal Year audit.
- Perform inventory, tracking, and reconciliation of all physical inventory to match information in DMLSS.
- Monitor shelf-life items through DMLSS, conducting necessary stock rotations and disposing of items that have expired.
- Maintain automated or manual locator systems to easily identify, track and inventory materiel, conducting data entry transactions to process receipts, issues, and inventory adjustments.
- Maintain accountability of item records and retrieve historical record data.
- Conduct causative research in the identification and requirements of all medical materiel using various information systems.
- Follow all applicable standard operating procedures and safety protocols.
- Recommend and implement process improvements.
- Provide training on topics related to assigned taskings.
- Operate material handling equipment.
Education/Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED required
- One to four (1-4) years of progressive experience in Supply Chain Management and/or Warehouse Operations to include but not limited to:
a) Inventory and Shelf-Life Management.
b) Solving complex inventory bottlenecks and shortfalls.
c) Conducting Inventories and Limited Technical Inspections
d) Conducting inventory adjustments within Supply Chain Programs
e) Experience in data entry and data management, to include use of data management software and analytical tools.
- Well versed in Microsoft Office Suite – especially Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Strong communication skills, both verbally and in writing, to report, collaborate, and correspond with all appropriate stakeholders on topics related to assigned taskings.
Specific/Preferred Requirements:
Preferred familiarization with the following applicable federal logistics websites and tools to include, but not limited to:
- Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS) System – Supply Management Program Tool.
- Medical Logistics Online (MLO) and Medical Master Catalog (MMC) through DLA Medical Master Online (DMMonline) plus any other information systems required by MedLog in the performance of duties.
- Tagup Manifest – Total Workforce Management System
- Federal Logistics Data on Mobile Media (FED LOG)
- Global Combat Support System – Marine Corps (GCSS-MC)
- Web Federal Logistics Information Service (Web FLIS)
- Able to obtain a license and operate motor forklifts up to 10,000 pounds lift capacity.
