Description:

The Semmes Murphey Clinic's mission is to deliver the best care for patients suffering from neurological illnesses while advancing the field of neuroscience. 


We are looking for someone to support to our clinical coding team. In this role, you will collect information required by our medical coders to submit charges. In this role, you will obtain and track our providers activity within various hospital systems to ensure proper chart creation and gather, record, and store data for our medical coding team. 


 Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review charge spreadsheet and obtain necessary items to substantiate the charges - procedure reports, progress or consult notes, etc. 
  • Access various hospital medical record systems to retrieve documentation on services provided or procedures preformed by Semmes Murphey physicians 
  • Verify status of hospitalizations (e.g. inpatient, outpatient, emergency room)
  • Create patient charts and ticket requests 
  • Works closely with the medical coding team to produce hospital tickets in a timely manner 
Requirements:

Minimum Requirements 

  • High school diploma or equivalent 
  • One (1) years related experience in a hospital or medical office setting 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word), Internet applications, electronic medical records (EMR), both hospital systems and practice management software 
  • Effective communication, both oral and written
  • Organizational skills with a strong attention to detail 
  • Ability to manage time and complete tasks in a timely manner 
  • Can skillfully gather and organize information 
  • Maintain a high level of confidentiality and discretion
