Position Description
This position is responsible for ensuring the smooth flow of operations in a correctional facility medical clinic. Employees serve as primary contacts for patients and are responsible for preparing necessary paperwork before patient visits, receiving patients, and maintaining records. In addition, this position may be responsible for coordinating other clinic services, responding to requests for patient information, and maintaining related information for the department. Employees in this classification receive general supervision. Most work is performed according to established procedures; problems of an unusual nature are referred to a supervisor. Work is performed in a medical clinic setting in a correctional facility and may require a high degree of contact with patients, facility staff, and other partners.

Major/Essential Functions
- Point of contact for contracted Providers for managing and coordinating multiple specialty services.
- Effectively communicates daily with Texas Tech University Health Science Center (TTUHSC) Clinical and Nursing staff to support patient scheduling for specialty clinics, on-site procedures, and surgeries.
- Effectively coordinates with the Texas Department of Criminal Justice (TDCJ) security staff to manage patient transportation between facilities and off-site appointments.
- Responsible for daily duties related to patient admissions and transport for an In-patient medical facility and outpatient specialty clinic.
- Responsible for gathering and producing various data reports related to access to care and specialty services.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
- Education in one or more of the following areas: Medical Terminology, International Classification of Diseases-10 (ICD-10) codes or Medical Billing.
- Experience in Healthcare administration in a hospital, surgical, or specialty clinic setting.
- Certification as a Medical Assistant, Surgery Tech, or related field.
- Knowledge of patient admissions, registration, scheduling, transportation, and housing related to an inpatient facility, surgical facility, and specialty clinic.
