Northrop Grumman Space Systems is seeking an RF and Lab operations Hardware Engineer to join the Radar Integrated Product Team (IPT) of the Deep Space Advanced Radar Capability (DARC) program.
As a Hardware Engineer you will be a key member of the team responsible for researching, designing and standing up RF, analog, and digital hardware components of the DARC System. This role will be reporting to the Radar IPT lead and work collaboratively with other functional disciplines to design, document and implement a hardware system architecture baseline that will meet operational requirements for the system. The ideal candidate should have a strong foundational knowledge in various electronics component families and infrastructure design (i.e., Rack Elevations, Engineering Drawings, Electrical Power, Heating & Cooling). This role will also support RF lab operations and integration activities at various DARC Sites. This position will be based in CO Springs, Colorado.
Primary Responsibilities:
Collaboratively define and document the analog hardware design support infrastructure design.
Develop engineering drawings and associated bill of materials.
Manage and control the HW engineering baseline (Change requests, redlines, document as built).
Determine HW component system specifications.
Determine Infrastructure requirements (Power, Heating and Cooling).
Develop integration plans and schedules.
Integrate and check out HW components.
Support design, develop, and implement RF testing methods and equipment.
Identify, analyze, and resolve program support deficiencies.
Support the integration, troubleshooting, asset tracking efforts in laboratory environments.
Stand up lab operations and test facilities and work closely with site stakeholders (Safety, Security, Product Teams).
Apply electrical, electronic and mechanical principles to cable & harness components and systems, including assembly, analysis, and documentation of results; construction of developmental assemblies, sub-assemblies and components; and quality testing.
Support and participate in the design, test, modification, fabrication and assembly of prototype electromechanical systems.
Develop and recommend corrective actions.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience; 3 years with a Master's; 1 years with a PhD. An additional 4 years of experience in lieu of a bachelor’s degree.
Must have an active U.S. Government Secret security clearance at time of application, current and within scope.
Experience with requirements decomposition and derivation down to hardware subsystem level and hardware component level specifications
Familiar with engineering drawings and baseline management processes
Experienced with procurement process
Experience with cable management and various cable types typical for IT environments (Ethernet, Power, Fiber)
Ability to optimize HW component placement within environments considering airflow, cable management, tip hazards, and density
Experience with RF devices, connectors, cabling, test equipment.
Experience with compute components (memory, SSD, power supplies, cabling, motherboards.
Experience with electromechanical or electronics cable design for RF/Radar applications.
Experience with RF test equipment, such as oscilloscopes, power meter, spectrum analyzer, signal generator, and network analyzer.
Experience with Atlassian tool sets (JIRA, Confluence)
The ability and willingness to travel up to 10% domestically or internationally
Preferred Qualifications
Teamcenter or similar Product Lifecycle Management System experience
Familiar with Model Based Systems Engineering principles
Experience with within Model Based Systems Engineering tools such as CAMEO
Familiar with integrating a broad set of commercial hardware system components (i.e., servers, switches, routers, network-attached (storage))
Current or previous certification to IPC standards (610x, 620x J-STD)
