As a laboratory technician based in Edinburgh, you will form an important part of our technical team and will provide vital support to the technical team maintaining the highest standards in: equipment maintenance and calibration; lab organization, sample delivery and analysis; and working within a quality framework.



Responsibilities

  • Perform daily, monthly and ad-hoc calibration of laboratory equipment in line with schedules
  • Conduct routine maintenance of non-specialist laboratory equipment
  • Manage receipt, control, storage and disposal of laboratory materials and client samples
  • Transport of samples to external analysis vendor (local area)


Qualifications / Skills



  • Practical experience in a chemistry laboratory setting (essential).
  • Equipment calibration and maintenance e.g., TG/DSC, XRPD, DVS, pH meter, analytical balances, HPLC (desirable).
  • Full clean UK driving license (essential).
  • Ability to work safely in a lab environment, adhering to local SHE policies (essential).
  • Experience in working independently and within a team (essential).
  • Working within ISO9001 quality standards (desirable).
  • An enthusiastic team player with excellent communication skills.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new skills and techniques.
  • The motivation and the organizational planning tools to manage workload.
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads and priorities


Qualifications



  • Minimum HND or degree qualification in a relevant scientific field (general chemistry, materials science, chemical engineering) or previously operated in a similar role (essential).
