Lead Motor Vehicle Mechanic
Job Summary
Performs maintenance on wheeled vehicles. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Responsibilities Other duties/tasks as assigned.
Troubleshooting and repairing of major components and systems such as engines, transmissions, differentials and trans-axles, electronic fuel injection systems, emission control systems, and related electrical, fuel, and other assemblies.
Tears down, adjusts, repairs, reassembles, and runs operational checks on components of these systems following instructions IAW technical manuals.
Completes repairs and installations with little or no technical supervision.
Uses a wide variety of test procedures and equipment in tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
Repairs, and adjusts brakes, lift and tilt gates, generators, starters, carburetors, fuel and electrical systems.
Replaces and repairs bearings bushings and oil seals.
Pulls wheels and repacks or replaces wheel bearings and changes tires on vehicles.
Exercises supervisory responsibility over work operations.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
Minimum three years in the vehicle maintenance trade and/or certified credentials.
Shall possess a working knowledge of the operating characteristics and limitations of heavy equipment and light duty trucks. Shall be able to perform preventive maintenance and repair vehicles assigned to the base.
Ability to work independently and under stressful conditions involving deadlines with dependable outcomes.
Experience in O&M to include leading of a work force that is responsible for O&M and repair of all facility systems, subsystems, and selected equipment typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver's license and insurable driving record.
