Roads and Grounds Supervisor
Job Summary:
This position plans and executes Grounds Maintenance, Snow/Ice Removal, and Roads Maintenance (Surfaced & Unsurfaced Maintenance). Manages a team of workers, regularly inspects work, ensures equipment is maintained, and assigns workers to various tasks. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Serves as the Supervisor for Roads & Grounds personnel (Grounds Maintenance, Snow/Ice Removal, and Roads Maintenance). Exercises supervisory responsibility over work operations.
Work includes road re-surfacing, grading, sign maintenance and installation, tree removal and disposal, snow and ice removal, culvert cleaning, culvert replacement, culvert installation, ditch construction and re-establishment, aggregate placement, bridge repair, pothole repair, pavement repair and marking, erosion control, brushing, mowing, overhead trimming, herbicide application, spring and fall wildlife plantings and establishment. Services also include, but are not limited to mowing, landscaping, edging, trimming, weeding, and leaf removal.
Reviews instructions received and schedules adequate personnel, materials, and equipment at work sites. Selects workers and assigns tasks to be performed. Plans and prescribes deadlines and work sequence for individual workers based on guidance received. Makes minor adjustments in procedures and sequence of operations as necessary to accomplish work effectively and economically.
Assures equipment, vehicles and supplies are maintained and used properly and responsible for assuring that rules and regulations on safety practices are observed
Checks work in progress and checks for compliance with the contract PWS on work methods and deadlines. Provides information to the Project Manager on status and progress of work, causes of delays, and overall work operations and problems.
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
High school graduate. Minimum five years in the Roads & Grounds trade and/or certified credentials. Shall possess a working knowledge of equipment used for maintenance of Roads & Grounds. Experience in management of a work force that is responsible for Roads & Grounds maintenance typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.
Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver's license and insurable driving record.
Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
Will also have knowledge and general proficiency in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Will have the 30-Hour OSHA Construction Safety & Health Training Certification
