General Maintenance Worker - UH

Facility Services, Inc. (FSI) is seeking an experienced and highly motivated General Maintenance Worker - UH to support one of our strategic partners in delivering critical Base Operations Support Services at Fort Belvoir, Virginia.
Job Summary
This position performs general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work. This position will be assigned to cover multiple areas and report where needed. Shall possess requisite skills to operate, troubleshoot, and mitigate issues associated with refrigeration, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and electronic systems, including pneumatic controls.
Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Replaces electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors.
  • Replaces belts and filters on air handling units.
  • Uses plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings.
  • Repairs or replaces sinks, water coolers, and toilets.
  • Paints structures and equipment.
  • Replaces or repairs concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks.
  • Replaces damaged paneling and floor tiles.
  • Hangs doors, installs door locks, and replaces broken windowpanes.
  • Performs general maintenance on equipment and machinery.
  • Perform all duties in conformance with company safety policies and procedures
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements
  • Minimum of two years related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience in O&M to include support of a work force that is responsible for O&M and repair of all facility systems, subsystems, and selected equipment typically found in a Base Operating Services contract.
  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English.
  • Must be able to pass a company drug screen and background check. Must possess a valid state driver's license and insurable driving record.
