The Department of Theology & Religious Studies at Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor in Eastern Christian Theology & Culture, to begin August 2027. We welcome applications from scholars trained in Theology and/or Religious Studies whose research focuses on any aspect of Eastern Christian traditions, including: Greek or Syriac Patristics, Byzantine Theology & Culture, Russian Religious Thought, Contemporary Orthodox or Eastern Catholic theology & culture. Successful candidates will have research competence in relevant languages. They will demonstrate potential for teaching and mentoring excellence at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels. Villanova is a Catholic university sponsored by the Augustinian order. The department seeks candidates whose research and/or teaching demonstrates present or potential engagement with Catholicism in its theological and religious traditions. Application documents should include a cover letter, C.V., three letters of recommendation, graduate transcripts, and statement of teaching philosophy. All documents can be submitted electronically.
