Job Summary
Obsidian Solutions Group is seeking an Additive Manufacturing Production Lead to help expand, operate, and grow our additive manufacturing production capability, with a primary focus on Multi Jet Fusion production.
This role will serve as the primary lead for daily MJF production, including machine operation, build planning, powder handling, post-processing coordination, procedure development, quality documentation, technician supervision, and production workflow improvement. The position may also support other additive manufacturing technologies, including FDM and SLA systems, as production needs require.
The Additive Manufacturing Production Lead will work closely with production management to schedule additive manufacturing work, prioritize builds, manage capacity, and ensure jobs move efficiently through printing, post-processing, inspection, and completion. This position will also supervise the MJF Manufacturing Technician(s) responsible for MJF-related production tasks and post-processing of MJF parts.
This position will also support the commercial growth of OSG’s additive manufacturing capability by working with sales, quoting, and applications teams to identify MJF and other additive manufacturing opportunities, support customer discussions, convert suitable work to additive manufacturing, and help grow recurring production orders.
Requirements:Key Responsibilities
- Lead daily MJF production, including build preparation, machine operation, powder handling, unpacking, depowdering, blasting, dyeing, and job staging.
- Support FDM and SLA production as needed, including machine operation, job preparation, post-processing coordination, troubleshooting, and workflow improvement.
- Support the expansion and scale-up of OSG’s additive manufacturing production capability, including equipment readiness, workflow development, process documentation, and production launch activities.
- Work with production management to schedule additive manufacturing jobs, prioritize builds, manage machine capacity, and coordinate workflow through post-processing and inspection.
- Supervise MJF Manufacturing Technicians responsible for MJF production tasks, post-processing, cleaning, blasting, dyeing, staging, and related support work.
- Train MJF technicians on machine operation, powder handling, post-processing, documentation, quality standards, housekeeping, and safety procedures.
- Create and maintain additive manufacturing procedures, work instructions, checklists, machine logs, powder records, and quality documentation.
- Establish process controls for material handling, powder reuse, part traceability, inspection, rework, and nonconforming parts.
- Troubleshoot production issues related to machine operation, build failures, part quality, powder flow, software preparation, and post-processing.
- Coordinate with production, applications engineering, quality, finishing, painting, quoting, and sales.
- Maintain a clean, safe, organized production area with proper PPE, housekeeping, and powder-handling discipline.
- Work with sales and applications teams to identify customers, parts, and programs that are strong candidates for MJF or other additive manufacturing processes.
- Provide technical input for additive manufacturing quoting, including build strategy, production assumptions, post-processing needs, lead times, and risk areas.
- Support customer-facing technical discussions related to additive manufacturing capabilities, limitations, materials, tolerances, finishes, and production fit.
- Help create sample parts, capability notes, customer examples, and other technical materials that support additive manufacturing sales growth.
Required Qualifications
- Experience in additive manufacturing, manufacturing production, CNC, plastics processing, machining, industrial equipment operation, or a related technical field.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to troubleshoot production equipment.
- Ability to read drawings, job travelers, work instructions, and basic dimensional requirements.
- Strong organization, documentation, and communication skills.
- Comfortable using production software, spreadsheets, quoting systems, and digital job tracking tools.
- Ability to lead hands-on production work while training and supervising technicians.
- Ability to coordinate production schedules, priorities, and job flow with production management.
- Ability to support customer-facing technical discussions and sales opportunity development.
- Commitment to safe work practices, PPE use, cleanliness, and process discipline.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HP Multi Jet Fusion, SLS, SAF, SLA, FDM, or other industrial additive manufacturing systems.
- Experience with build preparation or nesting software such as HP 3D Build Manager, Materialise Magics, Netfabb, or similar software.
- Experience with nylon powder, depowdering, bead blasting, dyeing, vapor smoothing, painting, resin post-processing, support removal, or other post-processing methods.
- Experience creating SOPs, work instructions, inspection records, or quality documentation.
- Experience with ISO 9001, ITAR, traceability, job travelers, or controlled manufacturing documentation.
- Prior experience leading technicians or a small production cell.
- Experience supporting technical sales, quoting, customer conversions, or production program development.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and work in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to lift and handle parts, powder containers, consumables, and production materials as required.
- Ability to wear required PPE and work around powder handling, compressed air, blasting equipment, resin systems, FDM equipment, and industrial machinery.

- Additive manufacturing procedures, quality records, and production workflows are created and followed.
- Additive manufacturing jobs are scheduled, prioritized, and completed consistently.
- MJF technicians are trained, supervised, and held to the correct production and quality standards.
- Powder handling, machine logs, and part traceability are maintained.
- FDM and SLA work is supported when needed without losing focus on MJF production.
- Additive manufacturing is actively supported as both a production capability and a growing revenue stream for OSG.
