The candidate will be responsible for the execution of your scientific project exploring the relationship between cutaneous sensory afferents, commensal microbial communities and immune responses. This will involve the development and maintenance of several lines of genetically modified mice, performing experiments both in vitro and in vivo. Techniques will include flow cytometry, immunofluorescent microscopic visualization of tissues, cell culture, and analysis of genomic datasets. It is expected that you are already familiar with these approaches. You will be expected to keep excellent records of your work, present your findings at lab meetings and participate in general lab activities. It is expected that your work will be published in a reviewed scientific journal and presented at national and international meetings.
A Ph.D. in Dermatology and Venereology with experience in working with animal modeling, immune cell profiling (flow cytometry, functional assays and RNAseq), protein biochemistry, tissue immunofluorescence imaging, among other techniques is required. The successful candidate will have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Eligibility to apply for NIH Training grants would also be a distinct advantage.
