Job Summary**
The Distribution Staker in Training will learn to perform essential tasks related to utility pole placement and distribution system design under the direct supervision of experienced personnel. This role is a foundational step for individuals aspiring to become skilled Stakers, contributing to the efficient and safe expansion and maintenance of electrical distribution infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities**
* Assist experienced Stakers in surveying and staking out new and existing distribution lines, including overhead and underground facilities.
* Learn to interpret engineering drawings, maps, and specifications to determine optimal pole locations, wire sizes, and equipment placement.
* Gain proficiency in using surveying tools and equipment, including GPS devices, total stations, and measuring tapes.
* Help identify and document existing utility infrastructure, potential conflicts, and environmental considerations.
* Participate in site visits to assess terrain, vegetation, and access routes for construction and maintenance activities.
* Prepare detailed field notes and sketches for engineering and design purposes.
* Learn and adhere to all safety regulations, company policies, and industry best practices.
* Collaborate effectively with team members and communicate progress and challenges.
* Perform other duties as assigned to support the Distribution Staking team.
Job Qualifications**
* High School Diploma or GED required.
* Strong interest in a career in utility infrastructure and construction.
* Basic understanding of mathematics and measurement principles.
* Ability to read and interpret maps and diagrams (training will be provided for specific utility drawings).
* Physically able to work outdoors in various weather conditions and traverse uneven terrain.
* Possession of a valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
* Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced professionals.
* Prior experience in construction, surveying, or a related field is a plus but not required.
