Position Description:
Staff Accountant
Summary:
We are seeking a motivated and meticulous Staff Accountant to join our growing construction company. This position will support the financial operations of eight related entities and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing receivable, reconciliations, tax compliance and collection activities.
The ideal candidate will have strong multi-entity, construction accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash receipts, customer account maintenance and aging review
- Oversee and manage the collection process to ensure timely payment of outstanding balances
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
- Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns accurately and timely
- Process annual 1099 filings
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
- Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities
- Support audit activities and provide requested financial documentation
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
- Work closely with project managers and operations team to resolve accounting and billing issues
- Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
- Other duties as assigned
Position Requirements:
Staff Accountant
Desired Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
- 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction industry
- Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax requirements
- Strong understanding of GAAP, accounts receivable and collection processes, as well as multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with VISTA by Viewpoint and Trimble Pay is a plus
- Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively
