Staff Accountant

Summary:

We are seeking a motivated and meticulous Staff Accountant to join our growing construction company. This position will support the financial operations of eight related entities and play a key role in maintaining accurate financial records, managing receivable, reconciliations, tax compliance and collection activities.

The ideal candidate will have strong multi-entity, construction accounting experience, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Manage full-cycle accounts receivable activities, including invoicing, cash receipts, customer account maintenance and aging review
2. Oversee and manage the collection process to ensure timely payment of outstanding balances
3. Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly
4. Prepare and file multi-state sales and use tax returns accurately and timely
5. Process annual 1099 filings
6. Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including journal entries and account reconciliations
7. Prepare and reconcile intercompany transactions across multiple entities
8. Support audit activities and provide requested financial documentation
9. Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
10. Work closely with project managers and operations team to resolve accounting and billing issues
11. Adheres to the company’s safety policies to create a safe work environment
12. Other duties as assigned

Staff Accountant

Desired Qualifications:

1. Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field preferred
2. 3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in construction industry
3. Knowledge of multi-state sales and use tax requirements
4. Strong understanding of GAAP, accounts receivable and collection processes, as well as multi-entity accounting and intercompany reconciliations
5. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
6. Experience with VISTA by Viewpoint and Trimble Pay is a plus
7. Excellent communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
8. Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively
