Bathing Assembler & Packer (St Thomas, ON – Onsite)

WHAT YOU WILL DO:
A Bathing Assembler & Packer is responsible for inspecting and finishing the product in preparation for the market. They are accountable for many key processes including final assembly, final quality checks, and packaging.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
Assembly
- Installs all fitting for whirlpools, air tubs, IWO, freestanding, combination units and modified tubs
- Cuts and installs pipes and applies all necessary silicone and glue
- Water tests tubs and connects power to perform run test, checking for quality compliance
- Complete work orders, sign and communicate to Lead Hand or Production Supervisor
Packing
- Retrieves and assembles boxes and or pallets for tubs, stapling and strapping
- Sand or buff product and perform minor repairs, as required
- Clean product and perform final quality check to specifications prior to packing
- Apply protection wrapping and shipment reinforcements on product
- Apply stretch wrap to unit in preparation for shipment
- Move products into holding area using pump truck or hand cart. Complete work orders and sign
- Work rotating afternoon shift
- Other duties as required
HEALTH & SAFETY:
- Maintain a safe workplace
- Wear Personal Protective equipment as required on the shop floor
- Comply with the company policies, procedures, and OHSA (Occupational Health & Safety Act)
- Participation is required in our internal responsibility system (right to know, right to refuse, right to participate)
- Follow safe work and lockout / tagout procedures as required
- Report unsafe conditions or hazards as soon as possible to your supervisor
- Maintain a clean working environment
- Adhere to and maintain WHMIS 2015 requirements
- Annual medical surveillance may be required
QUALITY:
- Follow all area work instructions and procedures in order to ensure quality standards are adhered to
- Report any potentially defective or damaged products or packaging to the quality dept, Lead Hand and your Supervisor
- Follow the control of non-conforming product procedure for any defective products found in your area
5S:
- Ensure your work area is maintained at required daily 5S standards
- Correct any deviations from 5S standards immediately
QUALIFICATION:
- Ability to follow work instructions
- Ability to pull, push (up to 40 lbs), bend and lift (up to 20 lbs)
- Ability to use handheld tools
- Ability to stand up to 10 hours
- Ability to grasp components
- Ability to comprehend the English language
- Ability to work well in a team environment
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
- O.S.S.D or equivalent
- Successful completion of all tests related to the position
