Production Supervisor - Second Shift
Job Description:
POSITION OVERVIEW
As a Production Supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the safety, quality, productivity, and talent management for your assigned shift. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, exceptional organizational skills, and a proven track record of driving operational excellence. This position reports to the Operations Manager and is responsible for leading a team of 10-20 employees.
Safety:
- Promotes a culture where safety is our highest priority by actively coaching employees on safety behaviors and our vision that every accident is preventable
- Implement and enforce safety protocols to ensure a secure working environment for all team members.
- Conduct regular safety meetings, inspections, audits, and daily observations to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Submits near misses and accident reports timely and conducts thorough root cause analysis.
- Ensure monthly safety training is completed.
- Ensure compliance with 5S responsibilities.
Quality:
- Monitor and maintain product quality standards through regular inspections and process improvements.
- Develop, implement and maintain quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with the quality lead to address and resolve quality issues promptly.
- Implement measures to enhance product quality and consistency.
Productivity:
- Analyzes daily production activities to identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure target speeds on all of the equipment are at target and put corrective actions in place to address if not at target
- Leverages ITW toolbox methodologies to optimize manufacturing processes to improve productivity and reduce waste.
- Plan, Organize, and monitor production schedules to meet daily, weekly, and monthly targets.
- Ensure MRD boards are up to date daily.
Talent Management:
- Lead, mentor, and coach production team members to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.
- Conduct performance evaluations and provide constructive feedback for continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with the HR department to address employee concerns, conduct training, and ensure adequate staffing levels.
- Ensure team members complete training requirements.
- Continuously work on closing gaps identified in shift’s skills matrix and help with developing employees.
- Motivates employees to maintain high productivity and morale.
- Interview new applicants and recommend qualified applicants for hire.
Communication and Collaboration:
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination between departments.
- Foster a culture of open communication, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
- Collaborate with other supervisors to achieve overall production goals.
- Flexibility to cover other supervisors and/or attend training or meetings outside of scheduled shift
- Ensure all approved timecards are submitted to payroll on time to avoid payment delays.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma OR GED plus 5+ years of related experience OR Bachelor's degree in a Science, engineering or other related technical field and 2+ years of related experience.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- In-depth knowledge of safety protocols, quality control, and production processes.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
- Passion for building a culture of employee development and building a diverse and inclusive workplace.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and challenging work environment.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Willing to certify and operate a forklift and other miscellaneous tools such as precision gauges and micrometers.
Compensation Information:
The base salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors such as the candidate’s skills, qualifications, experience, and geographic location (this range is for successful candidates in the Charleston, Illinois area), and may fall outside of this range in certain circumstances.
