Northrop Grumman Defense Systems is seeking an experienced Quality Analyst​ to join our Armament Systems business site based in Mesa, AZ.  The qualified applicant will become part of Northrop Grumman's Mission Assurance/ Quality organization working in a collaborative environment while promoting a positive and proactive teamwork environment.

  
Responsibilities

  • Work with Contracts to review Requests for Proposals/Quotations and provide QC/QA plan to support customer requirements and provide quality direction for solicitations.
  • Drive quality related policy deployment objectives for department including quality metrics. Progress toward quality goals including, Warranty Failures, and Out of Box (OOB) failures. Participate in efforts to improve metrics.
  • Ensure all requirements from contracts and AS9100 are properly communicated and accomplished within assigned programs.
  • Interface with customer personnel and facilitate the resolution of quality issues and concerns.
  • Work with Operations to initiate effective containment, investigation, and countermeasure activities to prevent further defect outflow both in-house and to Customers.
  • Lead investigation and liaison between internal functions and customers on technical diagnosis of root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions with resolution of customer complaints or field failures, and developing solutions as appropriate to eliminate the recurrence of the issue.
  • Oversee and support service part customer quality issues and warranty claims as necessary- working with the various departments on claims involving supplier or internal design issues
  • Collect information and research data related to quality specifications to comply with Customer requirements.
  • Generate technical reports to capture investigation and to communicate issued to other departments.
  • Utilize statistical methods and root cause problem solving in analyzing quality issues and quality standards.
  • Provide input and recommendations for the identification and selection of improvement projects.
  • Supplier visits may be required to support Customer development projects due to quality or delivery issues and / or root cause including counter measure (sometimes short notice).
  • Recommend test and inspection equipment as required to achieve quality goals.
  • Represents the site to customers, quality system registrar on audits and supplied product quality-related issues.
  • Monitors and drives improvements in supplier quality performance throughout the site as dictated through Strategy Deployment Goals and Objectives.

Basic Qualifications: 

This position emphasizes skills first

  • 6 years of professional experience in Quality or Manufacturing environment
    May consider Bachelor’s Degree plus 2 yrs of experience; or Master’s degree
  • Minimum 2 years of experience with quality tools and analysis in a manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of various manufacturing processes: milling, turning, surface coatings, , and electrical/mechanical assembly.
  • Strong problem solving, presentation and technical writing skills.
  • Knowledge of quality principles and tools (problem analysis, statistical tools, design of experiments, reliability, control charts and other quality methodologies)
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal / external customers.
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Basic PC skills including knowledge of MS Office products.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • ASQ CQA, CQE or Green Belt certification
  • Experience with TIPQA, Solumina, Costpoint or SAP
  • Experience working with DCMA or other government agencies

Primary Level Salary Range: $65,500.00 - $98,300.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
