Staff Accountant

We are seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant with construction industry experience to support day-to-day accounting operations and project financial management. This role will be responsible for general ledger activities, job costing, account reconciliations, month-end close, and assisting with project-based reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of construction accounting principles, including cost tracking, progress billing, retainage, and work-in-progress reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
• Prepare journal entries and assist with month-end and year-end close
• Track and analyze job costs by project, phase, and cost code
• Review project budgets versus actual costs and investigate variances
• Assist with work-in-progress (WIP) schedules and project profitability reporting
• Process and reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable related to construction projects
• Support progress billing, AIA billing, and customer invoicing
• Review subcontractor invoices, lien waivers, and supporting documentation
• Help ensure proper cost allocation for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontractors
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and balance sheet accounts
• Work closely with project managers and operations teams to ensure accurate financial reporting
• Assist with audit support and compliance with internal controls and company policies
