JOB DESCRIPTION:
Position Summary:
This position is responsible for growing the skillset, technical excellence, and overall effectiveness of the engineering function. The role ensures the organization is equipped with the capabilities required to deliver high-quality products and services. This position requires strong foresight and advanced engineering judgment to anticipate challenges, coach engineering personnel, and establish design standards based on engineering first principles.
Essential Functions:
- Provide leadership and direction to the engineering team in alignment with established Bendix goals and priorities while developing a highly skilled and innovative technical organization
- Drive competitive benchmarking and testing to identify industry trends and emerging technologies, ensuring insights are integrated into product development
- Assess and define technical resource requirements to support approved product development projects
- Coach and support engineering staff in resolving technical challenges and overcoming project-related impediments
- Ensure DFMEA documentation is reviewed and updated as required for Engineering Change Requests and lessons learned from field experience
- Ensure Design Verification Plan and Report (DVP&R) documents are thoroughly developed and maintained by Design Release Engineers responsible
- Support field investigations and ensure lessons learned are incorporated into product development processes
Knowledge:
- Expert-level technical knowledge of engineering products and systems, experience with commercial vehicle air brake systems a plus
- Strong understanding of budget planning and financial management principles
- Extensive knowledge of resource planning and allocation strategies
Experience:
- 10+ years of engineering experience with progressively increasing responsibility
- Minimum of 3+ years in a technical leadership role with direct influence over engineering teams and program planning. Global/remote management experience a plus
- Experience working with PLM systems such as Team Center or Active Work Space
- Time spent working within a global engineering team on joint development projects and shared standards and specifications
- Experience with Agile methodologies and SCRUM tools preferred

- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively convey technical concepts
- Demonstrated problem-solving ability and collaborative team-oriented mindset
- Proven technical leadership skills that promote robust product validation and engineering excellence
- Ability to establish and maintain high standards for technical performance and quality
- Ability to work effectively within cross-functional and global teams in a dynamic environment
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 10 years of related experience
Position Requirements:

The anticipated salary range for candidates who will work in Avon, OH is $115,900 to $183,100 per year. The final pay offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and years of experience within the job, the type of years and experience within the industry and education. Bendix is a multi-state employer, and this pay scale may not reflect positions that work in other states or locations. Provided they meet all eligibility requirements under the applicable plan documents, employees (and their eligible dependents) will be eligible to enroll in group healthcare plans that offer medical, dental, vision, and basic life and disability insurance. Employees also will be able to enroll in our company’s 401k plan. Employees will also receive 120 hours of vacation leave and 40 hours of Personal Paid Absence every year. Employees will also enjoy 12 paid holidays, and 1 floating holiday throughout the calendar year, subject to relevant terms outlined in the employee handbook. 6 weeks of paid parental leave will also be available for use. Requirements for these benefits will be controlled by applicable plan documents and policies. Employees working on federal contracts covered by the Federal Paid Sick Leave requirements will be notified and will receive benefits consistent and compliant with the FPSL requirements.
