Routing Specialist

We are looking for a Routing Specialist to support logistics operations in California. This contract opportunity with potential for a permanent role is ideal for someone who enjoys coordinating transportation activity, maintaining accurate shipment data, and keeping deliveries on schedule in a fast-moving environment. The person in this role will work closely with internal teams and external partners to improve route efficiency, address service issues quickly, and help ensure day-to-day freight movement runs smoothly.

Responsibilities:
• Create and adjust transportation routes to improve delivery timing, equipment utilization, and overall service performance.
• Track shipment activity using Excel and logistics systems, producing clear updates and reports for operational planning.
• Partner with drivers, dispatch, warehouse staff, and customer-facing teams to keep freight moving according to schedule.
• Investigate delays, service disruptions, and routing exceptions, then take prompt action to resolve issues and minimize impact.
• Maintain organized records related to loads, route changes, transportation costs, billing details, and operational activity.
• Communicate with carriers, customers, and internal stakeholders to provide status updates and support service expectations.
• Use tools such as ERP, CRM, and transportation platforms including CargoWise to manage shipment information and workflow accuracy.
• Support compliance with transportation procedures, customs-related requirements, and company standards across daily operations.
