Staff Accountant
Our client, a growing manufacturing organization in the Coeur d'Alene area, is seeking a hands-on Staff Accountant to join their finance team. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys partnering with operations, working with complex inventory and cost accounting processes, and providing meaningful financial insights that support business performance.The Staff Accountant will play a key role in financial reporting, month-end close, inventory and cost accounting, fixed assets, compliance, and process improvement initiatives. This position works closely with leadership, operations, purchasing, and production teams to ensure accurate financial information and support strategic decision-making.
Key Responsibilities:
General Ledger & Financial Reporting
- Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and adjusting entries
- Maintain the general ledger and ensure proper account coding
- Perform monthly account reconciliations, including bank accounts, prepaid expenses, accruals, and other balance sheet accounts
- Assist with the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Support management reporting and financial analysis
Manufacturing & Cost Accounting
- Maintain and reconcile inventory accounts, including raw materials, work-in-process (WIP), and finished goods
- Analyze standard costs, manufacturing variances, and production performance metrics
- Review labor and overhead allocations to ensure accurate product costing
- Support cycle counts, physical inventories, and inventory accuracy initiatives
- Partner with operations leadership to improve cost visibility and operational reporting
Accounts Payable & Accounts Receivable Support
- Assist with oversight of AP and AR processes to ensure accuracy and timely processing
- Review vendor invoices for proper coding and approval
- Support customer billing, collections, and cash application activities as needed
Fixed Assets
- Maintain fixed asset records and depreciation schedules
- Track capital expenditures, asset acquisitions, disposals, and transfers
- Ensure accurate accounting and reporting for capital projects
Month-End & Year-End Close
- Lead and support month-end close activities
- Prepare financial schedules and supporting documentation
- Assist with audit and tax preparation processes
Compliance & Internal Controls
- Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Assist with sales tax, use tax, and other regulatory reporting requirements
- Support the development and maintenance of internal controls and financial procedures

Qualifications:
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred (equivalent experience may be considered)
- 3+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Manufacturing accounting experience strongly preferred
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial statement preparation
- Experience with inventory accounting, cost accounting, and variance analysis
- Proficiency with ERP systems, accounting software, and Microsoft Excel
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and prioritize multiple responsibilities
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in a manufacturing environment with complex inventory processes
- Extensive month-end close and financial reporting experience
- ERP system experience and involvement in process improvement initiatives

Compensation
