The Associate Business Intelligence Analyst (ABIA) is a professional role responsible for analyzing, designing, and executing business workflow processes and procedures related to data analysis, including reporting, trending, and data mining for business units and enterprise-wide initiatives.

The ABIA applies systems analysis techniques to translate business requirements into scalable reporting and analytics solutions. This role partners with business users to define reporting needs and designs and develops data models, dashboards, and analytics solutions to support decision-making.

The ABIA contributes to the development, documentation, and testing of processes and procedures related to the maintenance, upgrades, and patching of business intelligence environments. The role collaborates across stakeholders to support the development and delivery of data and reporting solutions.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Collaborates with business users to define and analyze reporting and data needs using systems analysis techniques, translating requirements into scalable analytics solutions. Designs, develops, and implements reports, dashboards, forecasting models, and data mining solutions. Analyzes and profiles source system data to identify trends and recommend business intelligence and analytics solutions, and designs and migrates reporting from legacy systems to modern BI platforms.

  • Develops and maintains technical and functional documentation for business intelligence reporting systems and data solutions. Provides guidance to users on BI tools, including reporting capabilities and data interpretation, to support effective use of reporting and analytics environments.

  • Contributes to special projects and initiatives related to data and reporting solutions while participating in ongoing professional and technical development to build skills and maintain awareness of emerging tools and practices.

  • Perform other duties and assist with projects as assigned.


Minimum Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience and/or industry certifications will be considered.

Work Experience
  • 0–2 years of experience in business intelligence and analytics tools (e.g., Power BI) with report development and data analysis, or relevant coursework/projects
  • Experience designing and developing reports, dashboards, or data visualizations using Power BI or similar tools

Work Skills (e.g., written and verbal communication skills)
  • Ability to analyze business needs and apply systems thinking to develop data and reporting solutions
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and ability to exercise sound judgment
  • Ability to evaluate, adopt, and apply emerging technologies, including AI, in an ethical and responsible manner

Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)
  • Working knowledge of data analysis, data modeling, and business intelligence tools
  • Working knowledge of relational databases and data structures
  • Working knowledge of SQL or similar query languages
  • Understanding of data analysis concepts, including data profiling and trend analysis
Preferred Qualifications:
Formal Education
  • Master’s degree
  • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) preferred, or related experience

Work Experience
  • Experience working in higher education
Specific Job Knowledge (e.g., knowledge of principles and procedures related to field and area)
  • Experience creating and maintaining Power BI reports in an enterprise environment
  • Experience migrating reports from legacy to modern, cloud-based tools
  • Working knowledge of data concepts as they relate to AI enablement
  • Experience with Microsoft 365 environment such as SharePoint, PowerApps, Power Automate, Copilot, and Teams

Salary Posting Information:
This position falls within salaried grade 15 and the range is $64,000-80,000. The final salary will be determined with consideration of several factors including the selected candidate’s qualifications, department budget availability, market data, and internal equity.
