The Department of Orthopaedic Surgery, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, is recruiting full-time faculty members at the Assistant Professor level in the appointment (non-tenure) stream. The qualified applicant will be actively involved in patient care; medical student, resident, and fellow teaching; and orthopaedic research as determined by the Chair and associated division chief.

Qualified applicants seeking clinical opportunities may find recruitment in the following orthopedic subspecialty programs:

  • Primary Care Sports Medicine

Qualifications:

  • A medical degree from an accredited medical school;

  • Completion of an accredited residency program in a primary care specialty (e.g., Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Emergency Medicine, or Pediatrics);

  • Completion of an ACGME-accredited Primary Care Sports Medicine Fellowship;

  • Board certification in primary specialty, with a Certificate of Added Qualification (CAQ) in Sports Medicine or eligibility with a plan to obtain within six months;

  • Eligibility for licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania;

  • Proficiency in musculoskeletal ultrasound and familiarity with orthobiologics;

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, collaborate within a multidisciplinary performance team, and thrive in a high-volume clinical environment.

    Qualified physician applicants must meet the minimum position credentials for the orthopaedic specialty to provide clinical service. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest and ability in clinical care and teaching, and possess strong clinical, interpersonal, analytical, and writing skills. A record of scholarly publications and presentations, along with evidence of interest in and involvement in research, is expected. Academic appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor (0–5 years of experience).
