Position Summary

We are seeking a skilled and dependable Structural Welder to support the fabrication of large, complex weldments in a heavy fabrication environment. This is not typical beam-and-column structural steel work—our projects involve precision-built assemblies, thicker materials, and multi-pass welding performed to AWS D1.1 standards.

This role is ideal for a welder with strong technical ability, attention to detail, and experience producing high-quality structural welds on demanding projects. We offer a consistent workflow with opportunities to work on more complex and specialized fabrications.

Work Environment & Scope

  • Heavy fabrication shop focused on large, multi-component weldments
  • Primary processes include GMAW and FCAW on carbon steel
  • Fabrication of frames, fixtures, support structures, and custom assemblies
  • Projects support industrial and aerospace-related applications
  • Work performed to AWS D1.1 standards, with emphasis on weld quality, fit-up, and dimensional accuracy
  • Consistent workload with opportunities for overtime

Key Responsibilities

  • Lay out, position, and fit large components and assemblies using appropriate measuring tools and fixtures
  • Perform structural welding in accordance with AWS D1.1, including fillet, groove, CJP, and PJP welds
  • Execute multi-pass welds on thick materials and large weldments
  • Weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead)
  • Read and interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and fabrication drawings accurately
  • Cut, prepare, and fit materials using saws, torches, and grinders
  • Set up and adjust welding equipment to achieve proper weld quality and performance
  • Perform self-inspection to ensure weld quality and adherence to specifications
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in accordance with company standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 1 year of structural welding experience; AWS D1.1 experience strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated experience with large weldments or heavy fabricated assemblies
  • Ability to perform multi-pass welds on thicker materials
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints and weld symbols
  • Solid understanding of fit-up, layout, and fabrication practices
  • Familiarity with AWS D1.1 visual inspection criteria
  • Welding certifications (3G/4G) are a plus
  • Reliable, safety-focused, and quality-driven

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand and work on your feet for extended periods
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, squatting, climbing, and overhead work
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly

Equal employment opportunity, including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
