What does a Marketing Coordinator do?

The Marketing Coordinator serves as a cross-trained generalist on the marketing team, offering administrative support to the team, coordinating work within the department, planning team celebrations and team building activities, maintaining department policy and procedures, responding to inquiries or requests for information, as well as providing support and back up to other marketing disciplines (Field, Social, Web) as assigned.  

The Marketing Coordinator supports the marketing department by:

  • Provides administrative assistance in the implementation of Marketing activities and responsibilities.
  • Proactively managing the daily evolving calendar of assigned Director, including working with department staff, directors, executives and staff from other internal departments, outside vendor representatives, etc. to track project timelines, schedule meetings, follow up on requests for availability, accept and decline meetings, reschedule meetings, and negotiate the best times when attendees can be available. 
  • Make appointments and room reservations. Plans for necessary equipment as needed. Arranges for meals for meetings when appropriate. Launches meetings on behalf of the meeting host, as cohost, to ensure schedule is maintained. Takes minutes, as assigned.
  • As a key utility player on the marketing team, lends support in all areas that may include, but are not limited to, social media content development, website updates, digital invite creation, community ads, etc. 
  • Tracks spending for key vendors, subsidiaries and Marketing-managed expense lines. Manages invoices to include receipt, coding to appropriate subsidiary, department, and expense line GL, and routes for payment.
  • Manages merchandise, promotional material, and office supply inventory and ordering.
  • Receives, executes and distributes requests for printed materials, promotional items, merchandise, and more. This includes deploying large print jobs to our centralized printer units and confirming successful production.
  • Creates and distributes bank office closure signs for holiday/weather/early close. 
  • Distributes and/or coordinates distribution of physical marketing materials (posters, fliers, etc.)
  • Oversees weekly import of call center survey data, distribution of survey responses requiring attention, creation of cases for customer complaints received by marketing, etc.
  • Calculates survey results; may prepare related reports for review and/or presentation.
  • Prepares PowerPoint presentations and statistical or narrative reports as needed.
  • Maintains and updates procedures as needed; documents written procedures where none exist.
  • Performs weekly reporting duties as assigned.
  • Manages the departmental business continuity plan, pandemic kits, phone trees, etc. 
  • Coordinates marketing team building activities in office and offsite, as appropriate. 
  • Answers the Director’s line and the Marketing Group line, gathers appropriate level of information from known and unknown callers, directs materials to be sent electronically sets up appointment as appropriate.
  • Responds to inquiries relating to their particular area, or to requests from other bank personnel, customers, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
  • Maintains appropriate records and provides assigned reports.
  • Performs tasks which are supportive in nature to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed depending upon individual circumstances.
  • What is needed to be successful in this role?

    • A B.S. or B.A. degree in Communications, Marketing, Business, or related fields normally required. Equivalent education and work experience will be considered.
    • A minimum of two (2) years’ related experience is normally required.
    • Strong written/verbal communication skills.
    • Banking/financial services experience, strongly preferred.

    Compensation range - $23.25 - $27.75/hr.
    The actual salary offered within the range is dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, relevant experience, qualifications, skills, level offered, and performance expectations.
