The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a postdoctoral associate in molecular biology/genomics, to begin as soon as possible. Applicants must have a background in mammalian cell culture and molecular mechanisms with a PhD in biology or applicable field. The successful candidate will work with members of the Kaplan laboratory to create mammalian cell models for human disease alleles using CRISPR/Cas9 editing and genomic/deep sequencing analysis of model alleles. Projects include the establishment of a Multiplexed Assay of Variant Effects for an essential gene linked to neurodevelopmental syndrome and characterization of individually edited human cell lines using genomic approaches. Minimum requirements include mammalian cell culture expertise and experience or familiarity with CRISPR/Cas9-mediated genome editing; preferred qualifications include experience with growing and differentiating iPSCs, genomic library construction, experience with molecular biology and protein analysis, and familiarity with bioinformatic analysis of genomic data.
